Gan, our main character, grew up living in the slums around the city. Most of the people who live in the slums are hunters who earn their living by hunting commissions and selling their prey. Although heavily urbanized, they still retain their most basic traditions, and hunters typically use archery. At the beginning of the story, Gan was a spoiled child and this picture reflects a moment in the story when she stole an expensive duck, and beat up the man who chased her.

After the death of her older brother, she goes on a journey from the slums to the desert and then the ghost market to prepare for a final battle against the monsters that killed him. Here are a few of her costume designs based on the location and storyline. On the left is how she begins the story, spoiled but energetic. In the center, she’s growing more serious and introspective. In the third, she assumes her role as a leader and other hunters follow her into battle. Her story is a coming-of-age story.

Grandmother, an old woman in the Ghost Market that uses her knowledge of medicine to support the people. The only high-tech product on grandma is the tablet that she hangs on her neck, she uses it to learn more knowledge and make sure she is always up to date with the latest news.

Tuya, a desert mechanic known for fixing up the hunters’ mounts. In this story, the hunters ride motorcycles instead of horses. Tuya's design is more practical in function, and her clothing ensures that she is visible enough in her environment and comes with many of the tools she needs to do her job.
